An Atypical Presentation of Acute Abdomen as a Cardioembolic Complication of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report

[2] and named after the Japanese word “tako tsubo” that means “octopus pot”, a fishing jar with a narrow neck and wide base used to capture octopuses, as visualized on left ventriculography [2]. TCM is characterized by chest pain, dyspnea, ischemic changes on the electrocardiogram, transient left ventricular dysfunction and mild rise in cardiac biomarkers in the absence of epicardial coronary artery disease [3]. This condition is mostly common in post-menopausal women and precipitated by severe physical and emotional exertion [4].
